Caries is the main disease in the oral cavity. Cariogenic bacteria metabolize sugar and release acidic products that promote the demineralization of the dental tissues and the subsequent dental loss by creating "holes" in the teeth.
When the caries does not extend into the nerve of the tooth, the missing part of the tooth can be restored by filling. The tooth is cleaned from the carious dental tissue and then a special material is used to restore the tooth and to “close” the hole.
