Preventive Sealant

Preventive sealant is a simple and safe method for caries prevention. A special material is placed on the occlusal surfaces of the teeth, to cover their pits and fissures, in order to prevent the accumulation of food and cariogenic bacteria.

The procedure is performed without topical anesthesia and most of the times drilling of the tooth is not needed. Preventive sealants have a lifespan of over 4 years and are up to 80% effective in preventing tooth caries. Annual check-ups are recommended for the proper examination and completion of possible detachment of the material.
